Temerloh

Just got back from Temerloh~
I had quite a fun journey because my master wanted Liza to come along. We just went there to file something at the the High Court. I was excited because the last time I was there for trial I didnt get to eat at the best Ikan Patin restaurant.
So this time, when I went by myself I brought food container with heat resistant bag.
I planned to ask the court staff where is the best place to eat Ikan Patin masak tempoyak in Temerloh. and I did.
They told me its Restoran Pak Usop.
So me and Liza went and found the place. However, we are quite disappointed because the shop keeper including all the waiters are very proud and haughty. We believe it is because they assume that they are famous so they don't have to care about customers anymore. Both of us were quite confused because they were no signs or indications whatsoever that we must self-service. However, being quite a savy eaters we help ourselves to all the lauk. We also had to ask a few times for rice which in the end we went to take ourselves.
We are so frustrated with the service because we came all the way from Kuala Lumpur and went at great length to find the restaurant and were so hungry.
The Ikan Patin masak tempoyak at Pak Usop's is not that great that they can be so haughty and proud like that.
They were not that many customers at that time of the day either (around 2.30pm-3.30pm).
We have been to busier restaurant with way better service right in Kuala Lumpur. I thought people in small town supposed to be more courteous.

Because I were of the opinion that Pak Usop & Co is very poyo to us I didn't even want to fill my food container with their Ikan Patin masak tempoyak. Plus, it was not THAT great. I have tasted better. They didn't even cook the original fresh water fish (ikan sungai) but used farm fish instead.
Instead, me and Liza
tapau Nasi Ayam at the end of Pak Usop's row. It was delicious.
Regardless, we are satisfied that we have tasted and tested the infamous Pak Usop's. Definitely will not recommend it to fellow travelers because they simply don't deserve it. I used to eat at a restaurant at the back of Pak Usop's and it tasted better and had more choices.
Because of my disappointment I refuse to picture the food. Plus, at that time of the day they werent many lauk left.
My friend from Temerloh who was outstation that day promised that for my next visit he will take me to a genuine Ikan Patin masak Tempoyak restaurant near the Hospital.
Admittedly, you may only taste the best Ikan Patin Masak Tempoyak right inside Temerloh. Any other place outside it will taste weird (went to R&R Genting Sempah last time and it tasted bad there).
However, in Selangor - Kuala Lumpur you can find anything that tasted better than its origin place if you know where to look.
My wish to eat the food at its origin place is only due to traveling i.e why not? since we are here.
Our frustration did not last for very long however.
For one thing, we are no longer hungry. Plus, we get to sight seeing at a place where we don't usually go.
For me, the best thing that happened during our visit to Temerloh is the RM3 car wash:

It was unbelievable. RM3?!
But it's true. On our way back we stop by to get my very dirty car a wash.
I am so happy that it is in Temerloh, definitely will be stuck in a long queue if it's in KL.
We don't have to go out of the car. I have only to drive into sections where they splash water,

then splash snowy soap,

then enter the 'washing machine',

then some people will dry your car.
You can add RM1 for tyre wax and RM4 for vacuum. But I don't need the extra service so I just have to pay RM3.
On our way back we stopped at R&R Genting Sempah to buy Buah Berangan and exotic fruits. The usual mango and banana are from KL but its sold cheap here. I bought wild mangosteen that was harvested by orang asli and home grown eggplant, some Buah Berangan (memang berangan kalau makan. haha) and some mango.
It didn't cost me more than RM20.
My final say? I definitely will come again because I haven't tasted the best Ikan Patin masak Tempoyak.

Penang Tour and Food

memule skali aku nak cakap: Marvellous, Fantastic, Sgt Best, Wowiee!

maklumlah, org dah lama tak bercuti kan.

Perjalanan di mulakan di Hentian Duta, KL. Ale (adik lelaki aku) hantar aku ke situ. bas agak lambat sampai. and lepas dah sampai gerak plak lambt. sabar je lah. aku tak tido sepanjang perjalanan 4jam 30minit pasal aku ni mmg tak leh tido dlm kenderaan atau dimana sahaja tempat yg takde tilam dan bantal. Perjalanan agak menyeksakan kerana aku x pernah travel lama2 dgn bas. okeylah enough membebel pasal bas. kalau nak membebel naik kapal terbang la. apepe pun hati aku kembali berbunga riang sebaik sahaja aku melihat air laut yg membiru sepanjang merentasi jambatan Pulau Pinang. Fiza dan Muna (adik Fiza) jemput aku kat hentian Sg Nibung. kitorang terus check in kat Tune Hotel Penang. fyi, check in memang senang gile. memule aku mcm pandang rendah la ingatkan takde lif kat sini. rupe2nye mmg canggih aaa tempat nih. bkan saje lif. internet pun ada untuk semua penghuni percuma selama 30minit sehari. dengan internet ni lah aku menulis blog2 aku selama disini. teheee. aku menulis ni sementara menunggu Fiza datang ambik aku untuk aktiviti2 seterusnye. nak kata aku takde aktiviti sorrylah ek, aku ade aktiviti sampai tak sempat nak berehat pun. segalanye mesti cuba dilakukan dalam masa tiga hari dua malam ni:

Day 1:

atas: Maliia Bakery atas: tempat makan!

HArga????

KAmi g bungkus nasi kandar Immigration:

Memang BEst!

Sambungan:

Day 3 (last day):

tiket bas aku pukul 3pm. so, kami takde mase nak melilau jauh-jauh sangat. so, kitorang pegi Gurney Plaza. aku saje je nak tengak samada berbeza ke tidak shopping complex kat sini. sah takde beza. haha.

nasi briyani. nampak simple tetapi menurut pakar makanan aku (Fiza n co) inilah briyani sejati.

lauk - pauk. cuba teka total lima orang makan punya lauk pauk yg mcm ni berapa?

Mungkin perjalanan aku dimudahkan. semuanya bagus2 jek sepanjang trip aku.

perjalanan dalam bus Nice nih memang Nice. air mineral, air kotak, tea n coffee semuanya dihidangkan sepanjang perjalanan. roti ala croissant and pastry pun ada. tempat duduk luas dan selesa. air cond dia mmg selesa. tak perlu pakai baju sejuk dan tidak panas. terletak pada suhu yg perfect. disebabkan ada movies and tempat selesa maka perjalanan selama 4jam 30minit tak terasa langsung. aku tetibe rase tanak turun bas sebab nak habiskan semua movies dulu. haha. abeslah lepas ni aku nak naik bas mcm ni je kalau nak kemana-mana.

bas berhenti di KL Central dan Old Railway Station. aku turun di old railway where adik aku dah pun menunggu. dengan itu, tamatlah percutian epik aku.

the end.

23 April 2009

Offline....

its quite boring to write a blog offline. but i have to make do with whatever i have.
so, i've already lost track of date and day. I am not sure how many days we're in semester break. haha. i know its still early though.
first day of holiday, spend my time driving alone into bukit bintang and visited christian dior warehouse sale in coronade hotel. i almost got myself a RM170 perfume.
somehow along the way i lost my interest. so i didnt buy that perfume. then i just walk, window shopping to and fro bb plaza, sg wang plaza and lot 10. bought myself a cloth at FOS.
got to my mahallah in the evening and start packing real fast. my bro came at night and we load the Ford Ranger until its full. I dont give a f**k about the prohibition of bringing male into the mahallah. i've tried asking for permission in a legal way but they didnt entertain me. seriously, how can they expect all the girls lift all those heavy boxes. nope, i am one who will do whatever i think is right. so i told my bro to lift the boxes from level 3 to the truck. send him off that night and continue packing. the next morning i load the Gen2 until its full, send my keys and off we go to Serdang.
imagine, two fully loaded Ford Ranger and Gen2 is my stuff. yet they expect me to carry it myself. total BS.
at my parents house, all that stuff cannot fit in. i told my mother that i seriously need another place to live. so we agreed that she should make her flat nearby south city plaza available for my accommodation.
the plan is, i will live there and i will let out the rooms (other than master bedroom, of course). i dont want to get all so excited about it. although i love to live anywhere but here (hehe).
the windows and doors had already been measured and some people are coming this saturday to put up grills on the said door and windows. well this is Malaysia. we have to put up those grill. currently my stuff is out under the porch and some of it is in the living room.
cant wait to have so much money to design 'my flat' like a designer. tehehehehe. i'm thinking dark brown like oldtown white coffee. or purple like what i saw on tv. haiiih....daydreaming.
Anyway, my holiday started off with kitchen duty:

tadaa! says who i dont know how to cook? i said i hate cooking. doesnt mean i cant cook. hello! :P
on Monday, i went out in the morning and drive around Serdang meeting my old employers asking for the same job and some new ones. up until now, no news.
I dont remember what i do on tuesday. lol.
on wednesday, went to Alamanda to find job. there are some vacancies but i dont like retails. if i want to work in retails i might as well help my aunt. that way i wont care about the skimpy pays so much. on the same day i planned to go to PWTC bookfair.
i was on sg. Besi highway when a motorcycle honked me. they told me my front wheel is on smoke (not fire. haha). so i pulled up beside the military airport.
they want rm300 for repair there and then. but i said no thank you. i called my father and told him whats happening. so i waited here:

for a very long time at that. pass up my time reading The Sun and Stephen King:

then my father and bro came and a short while later a lorry came.but before that another bike came and offered to repair. my father also refused.
we had to put the car on to the lorry:

how cool was that?
anyway, lots of things happened on Wednesday. after we came back from picking me and Gen2 back from the highway, i followed my parents to Balai because yesterday my sister hit a bike with Ford Ranger.
initially, they agreed with the girl not to make a report and settle outside balai and court. but the next day the girl went to report anyway. so a three quarter lawyer advised her parents to lodge a report too. hehe
my parents arent so ignorant about the law, but we are dealing with the vic and her family who are so ignorant. i am GLAD i took law. because all those drama and theatrics happens (malas nak cerita drama dia) because they are ignorant.
in the end, after some free advices etc, i drafted (again, for free) a settlement between my sister and the girl in front of the investigating officer that the matter is settled without investigation and we will pay all the damage to the bike of RM194.00.
all signatures were put and its settled. the IO read my settlement and was very satisfied (we never told anybody there that i took law). i saved everybody RM300 of compound and my sister's neck.
how convenient is that? no wonder people hated lawyers. they are afraid of the things that they didnt know. afraid of our knowledge. fyi, i didnt come there to save anyone. i came because i want to see how useful i can be. to prove myself to me own self. heck its true, KNOWLEDGE IS POWER.
today, i'm still waiting for Gen2 to be repaired so that i can catch up with PWTC bookfair. i just wanted to buy Ramlee Awang Murshid's Mikhail. i hope its still ongoing by the time the car is ready. on 28th planned to go to MPH warehouse at PJ with Gerald.
other than that is the usual, watchi9ng tv, play games, made my kid sisters life miserable, picking them to and fro the school and kindergarten etc etc etc. mundane stuff that doesnt need reporting here.

next on schedule is moving out of parents house to the flat. unpacking etc. after all is done and if i didnt have a job to detain me i wanted to go Cuti-Cuti Malaysia in Penang. our family planned to go to Bt. Ferringhi. but there might be chance that i'm going earlier to visit Fiza.

p/s: i am now on my way to PWTC to get that book coz the car had been repaired.

21 November 2008

Back from the wild?

Spent 5 days in Inter-civilizational youth engagement prgramme 2008 (IYEP2) http://www.just-international.org/iyep2008.cfm . I had so much to tell, experienced a lot that i dont have words to sum up everything. all i can say is i feel and experienced enough to make up for one month holiday til next semester. the fact is i dont feel like writing. but one of my best friend already reminded me not to forget to write about it once i'm back. well lets start with bad news first: i didnt participate much like i anticipated before. lets just attribute that to culture shock. lol.
Day 1
i was the first to arrive at the JUST office in PJ (punctuality is my middle name. lol). had to wait for some time before everyone and the bus arrived. then it took forever for the bus to move (impatience is also my middle name). then i was so excited to see kuala selangor again after so many years that i thought it took ages to get there. i noticed the driver detoured into KL from PJ then to KS. once arrived, we went into the ballroom- listening to briefing and had lunch. it was my first time seeing Dr. Chandra Muzaffar in person so i was kinda shy to went and speak to him. he was very friendly to everybody though. after that the discussion started. i just dont want to elaborate further on this because i get tired of it after five days. suffice to say that i learned a lot about people during the discussions. quoting Adel and Hassanal 'information overload'. i would like to add 'discussion overload'. haha. i was kinda lost on every topic because i wasnt involved in any particular association and done anything about environment. my last minute application is also the cause that i came unprepared. however, i did come to learn. and learned i did become.
Day 2
one of my best day because i love the activity. i was pleasantly surprised at the sight of the funny looking 'bus' after breakfast:

the bus took us to the Kuala Selangor Nature Park: http://www.nature-escapes-kuala-lumpur.com/Kuala-Selangor-Nature-Park.html
i love the park because i fit in so well with the nature and i feel a lot at ease by myself. it kinda remind me of my childhood where i play in the jungle much thicker than the park:
Later in the morning, it rained quite heavily. luckily i borrowed a quite broken umbrella from the hotel (it was the only umbrella from the hotel). so i wasnt drenched. but i feel uncomfortable with the dampness of my jeans and shirt. when we went back to the hotel the rain hasnt stopped. i showered again and changed into dry clothes. but once i reached the ballroom (i prefer to call it brain lab) i got dampen by the puddles. i was quite cranky for the whole day after that that at the end of the day i skipped the Walk to the Lighthouse. i feel unhappy about having not gone to the lighthouse because sight-seeing is the highlight of my day there but when i'm cranky i am tired and its better if i dont communicate much. so i just stayed in the room. later that night had dinner and amused myself with free performances and went to bed earlier than everyone.
Day 3
Feel like i have reached the end of my wits and have nothing more to contribute to the brain lab. feel happy that some people must prepare the solar cooker. so i am the first to took off for the making of solar cooker. now this i can relate to. lol. i pretty much had fun doing everything other than be part of brain lab. but after that had to be back to brain lab. feel sad that it was so easy building the solar cooker. i wish it was more difficult so i can play longer. anyway, i forgot to mention another activity that i prefer than brain lab is eating five times a day. now, i didnt say that i am used to eating five times a day. by myself, i only ate 3 times max a day. but even eating here sometimes disappoint me because the food was weird and when its not weird and tasteless its just plain tasteless. but there are times i enjoyed it too and there are times when they are tasty. but all in all, i just enjoyed eating for the meeting people part. and it doesnt stopped me from eating a lot too. i think i had an addition of at least 1kg per day. today, the highlight of the day was the trip to fireflies park/river: http://www.journeymalaysia.com/MR_kampungkuantan.htm
for the first time of my life i climbed into the sampan. to sum things up, i had a really amusing companions in the sampan and pretty much laughed all the way to and fro. i catched one firefly. i let everyone on the sampan see it inside my hand and after that half-intentionally let it go. i didnt take much pics because it was pitch black and i dont have high definition camera.
Day 4
brain lab as usual and also time to make use of the solar cooker. i had a dream the night before that we successfully cooked fish soup with the cooker which i told Irfan that it means we will not successfully cook anything. it was pretty cloudy that day and we put the solar cooker at the tennis court. i forgot to mention that we practically live with two species of monkeys so when we came back to check the rice that we tried to environmental-friendly cook one of other group's solar cooker was already attacked by monkeys. i saw their hand prints everywhere. later that day, it rained. to sum up, none of us successfully cooked any rice. which also goes to show that trying to be environmental-friendly is a trying journey. plus, costly to be successfully implemented. i'm talking about having a workable solar system in each homes to cook etc.
Day 5
In total agreement with the speech by Dr. Chandra Muzaffar on spirituality. this is the one element of the programme that i can relate to and his speech was the only thing on spirituality that i agreed. however, i didnt participate during actual discussion on this element because i didnt agree on some people's view on Islam, plus we're having diversity of faith here. I purposely avoid talking about faith because i feel that if we didnt know about other people's faith we shouldnt talk about it, when we are of different faith but know a lot about other faith we musnt also talk too much on that other faith either, and when we are of that faith but having not completed our knowledge on it we should not brag...we shall only explain when asked. this is very important because faith is a delicate issue and being careful means to avoid insulting and be insulted back. i was personally insulted when a particular person babble alot about my faith when such person is not even a believer let alone practiced my faith and i noticed that such person was sometimes wrong in facts. i was also annoyed when one person claimed directly and indirectly that such person was a devout muslim that he is qualified to be a wali but in practice i saw a lot of discrepancies in action. Islam embodies the element of humility. but all i saw is vanity. in Surah al-Najm (Verse 32) Allah said, what can be translated as, "Do not complement yourself, He (Allah) knows best of those who are pious."

Islam has legislated a number of rules that a Muslim should abide by when he talks to others, while always remembering with unshaken belief that everything he says is accounted for and he will be rewarded if what he says is good and will be punished if what he says is evil. Allah (S.W.T.) says in Surat Quaaf, (Verse 18), what can be translated as, "Not a word does he (or she) utter, but there is a watcher by him ready (to record it)."

The Messenger (S.A.W.) warned us that talk is very dangerous. In an authentic hadith reported by Imam At-tirmithi and Ibn-Majah, that he said, "A person may say a word that is pleasing to Allah (S.W.T.) and he may not think much of it, but Allah (S.W.T.) will, (because of that word), bestow his pleasure upon him on the Day of Judgment, and a person may say a word that is displeasing to Allah (S.W.T.), and he may not think much of it, but Allah will have, (because of that word) his wrath and anger on him on the Day of Judgment."

Talk can be dangerous. So, we should control it within the limits of Islam, guided by Allah (S.W.T.) and his Messenger Mohammed (S.A.W.).
Quote: http://members.cox.net/ameer1/mannerst.html

i feel i have the right to comment on this issue because i have at least some legal background on the Shariah. although some people say education is a waste of money and refused to educate his/her self in the 'conventional way;, at least i made RM26,000 loan for my legal studies knowing that i learned about Islam and Shariah from legitimate and certified sources and once i graduated i shall receive a certification that shows i can talk on Islam more profoundly that people who dont have it. some people may say that this is of trivial nature. but for me, with regards of my faith nothing is trivial. and every little hiccups goes into establishing a prima facie case against 'the accused'. hence i rest my case.

so on the last day there is no longer brain lab but we all sat down to check the 'cover letter' of our soon to be memorandum on the outcome of our five days discussion that embodies our opinions on what should be done to save the environment. i dont exactly have any idea to whom this shall be addressed but i guess its for the government, business org and the public at large.
later that day, we checked out of the hotel and detoured to Sekinchan to see paddy field. i took a lot of pictures there. then we're off to PJ.
